I'm Pragati Kumari — a Madhubani artist keeping a centuries-old tradition alive, one motif at a time. Original works, commissions, and prints rooted in the soul of Mithila.
A living collection of my paintings. Tap any piece to view it larger. Everything here is managed from the admin panel — no code required.
Madhubani — also called Mithila painting — was born on the mud walls and floors of homes in the Mithila region of Bihar, painted by women to mark festivals, weddings, and the turning of seasons. Every fish, lotus, and peacock carries meaning passed down through generations.
I work in the traditional way: natural pigments, fine nib and twig, and the dense, unbroken line that gives Madhubani its heartbeat. Each piece begins as a story and ends as something I hope you'll live with for years.
Tell me your story, and I'll paint it in the language of Mithila.
No printing, no shortcuts — every line is drawn by hand in the Mithila way.
We choose a theme — a deity, a wedding, the forest, your own memory.
A double outline is drawn freehand, the signature of true Madhubani.
Spaces are packed with cross-hatch, dots, and pattern — never left empty.
Natural pigments bring it alive: turmeric ochre, indigo, lampblack, rose.
